Lay Down Your Burdens Guided Journal, Self-Guidance
Spiritually-minded mothers long to “get it right.” We know the deep, long-term implications of our mothering work, and we are acutely aware of the impacts we have on our children in our every day lives. And, we are also human. Bound by the limits of our humanness, we are often unable (or unwilling) to act in accordance with our long-term view of mothering well.
It is in moments, days, and seasons like these where the whispers of shame can creep into our minds and hearts.
“You shouldn’t yell. Stop it.”
“You’re too lazy. Try harder.”
“Your kids need you. Stop wallowing.”
As a mom, a friend of moms, a Christian of 15 years, and a licensed therapist, I believe God desires a better path to growth than shame.
Do we want to mother well? Absolutely.
Do we need to shame ourselves to get there? Absolutely not. In fact, the research shows us that shame only serves to keep us stuck, not help us grow.
In this 5-day guided journal, you will be invited to unpack the ways in which you have been leaning into shame messages to spur spiritual growth in your mothering life. Then, the journal will move you through teaching and prompts to lay down those shame messages and find a new way forward.

This journal will start releasing to your inbox on Monday, March 29. Together, we will finish our guided experience on Good Friday-April 2nd, leaving our hearts lighter and more free to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, who is the ultimate lifter of our shame.
